Most likely your Office2000 was an UOGRADE rather than a FULL version and 
that is why you were asked for the Office 97 cd.... but, I understood that 
was only for verification of ownership purposes and NOT for installation.

I bought the Office 2000 at Office Depot, full professional commercial 
version. I -try- not to buy upgrades to avoid problems like this- I did not 
purchase the XP upgrade, the full version. MS should like me. <g>
