I know this is a late reply, but for what its worth here is what i do:

Go to Start/Find/Files or folders/  and type the following    in the box for
"Named":
     *.tmp,*.chk,~*.*   In "Look In" type C, D, E, or whatever your drives
are.  Click on one file to highlight, go to Edit/Select all and then
File/Delete.  That should do it! :o)

Thanks for your reply, Steve.  Unfortunately, the delete files option and
the clean disk are both not responding when I try to use them.  But I
finally was able to do it manually.  Thanks.  Connie C.
