When you save the one at work, one of the options should be to save as Word
6 document. That will read on any version of MS Word and is the 'safest'
one to use if you're crossing versions. It's probably not because of the
Windows versions, but rather the Word versions. As far as getting the
'open with' list, just choose MS Word and check the box that says 'always
use'. However if you do NOT have Word installed on your home machine,
that's the problem. The reason they may open for others is that they also
have Word installed. If you don't, then you're not going to see it at
home. You might try Word 6 save and see if that opens in Word Pad. It
might. If not, for yourself, you would have to save it in a .rtf or txt
format unless you have Word or unless there is another program that will
read Word documents. And there may be.
