Judith,

I just checked what the lead is, and it is a laplink type lead, so it will allow
you to transfer files from one machine to another. I am not sure if you will
need laplink or some other software that comes with it(???).

I would hope and trust it will work and allow you to see the other computer
using Network Neighbourhood, or My network Places, depending on your OS.

I would make sure that any folders you need to transfer from and too, are
shared, so they can be seen by each machine ,and that you give them the right
permissions, to be able to read and write where necessary. if you don't then
you will not be able to move anything through the networking module of Windows.

As I am off to bed now, and I am tired, I can help you tomorrow if you need help
more, with the networking side, unless the cable comes with good instructions,
that you can follow, and do all you need to do. Other wise, may be some one
else can help you out,

good luck,

Trevnal

My HP 8396 desktop[ has 11 gigs and my Gateway Laptop has 30
gigs of hard drive. Now I have a Bafo Cable which will hook
into both their USB hubs (haven't opened it yet).

Now correct me if I AM wrong but if I hook it up, I should be
able to transfer the files I have on my HP to my Gateway and
put the programs I don't use constantly and their information
(data files) onto my laptop and thus clear more room on my
desktop.

I do all my graphic work on my desktop because the monitor
shows the colors better.

If I create folders and files for this purpose on my Gateway, I
should be able to call (transfer) back what I need easily.

Is my assumption correct? I want to know this before I open
the BAFO BF 100C cable packaging and start going to all the
work of transferring files.

Judith
