Hey You! It's good to see you, Sugah.
You're running into two separate, but interrelated problems here (at
least from your description). First, make the drive the Master on whichever
IDE line you're using (Primary or Secondary). If there's already an optical
drive there, make the optical drive the Slave.
Next, head into your BIOS and look for an area that deals with the BOOT
options (every BIOS if different, so I 'can't be much more precise than
that). Chances are good that the new IDE drive is taking over boot duties
and replacing the SATA drive. Fix this by telling the SATA drive to boot
before the PATA (IDE) drive.
I had a wonderful time trying to figure this stuff out myself when I
rebuilt my system and congratulate you on getting this far. Welcome back!
