Hmm... that's shouldn't happen. Maybe you have a missing file? If you = want, I can send you the startup floppy that I use, which has the basic Win98 Startup files, plus the extras that I mentioned. Obviously, its fits on = a floppy, so won't be a large download for you. Let me know. ---Troth -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ange Sent: Monday, August 01, 2005 6:32 AM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=3DPCTechTalk=3D- Re: Boot Diskette Question Sorry Troth I didn't make myself very clear. I was talking about if you can't actually boot into XP and so cannot access "cmd". When I've previously tried to access DOS on XP using a Win98 disk (above scenario) it just came up with "wrong version of DOS" or something = similar ~ it was a while ago. While not true DOS, you can do many of the = =3D same tasks. So, really depends on what you need to do. The BETTER way is = =3D to get a Win98 Startup Disk and use that. And, with that Win98 Startup = =3D Disk, you add a few extra commands that can come in of use (ie. =3D SMARTDRIVE, DELTREE, etc). ____________________________________ Sir Troth ICQ #1717439 AIM/AOL: SirTrothX Yahoo: SirTroth MSN: SirTroth@xxxxxxxxxxx (do not email me here) My Personal Email: SirTroth@xxxxxxxxx -------------------------------------------------- -- <Please delete this line and everything below.> To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ -- <Please delete this line and everything below.> To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/
