-=PCTechTalk=- Improving video steaming?

A friend of mine just video'd a drum and dance weekend festival I attended.
He gave me a link to the videos, but unless I play them at a tiny "web
size," the clips keep constantly stopping and interrupting
themselves...? -It's really very annoying, to the point of making the videos
unwatchable!!

Is there any way I can improve my streaming video setup so I can watch
larger (or perhaps higher def) videos w/o this annoying problem?

I'm using WinXP and Win Media Player on an older PC. Should I use a better
video player than Win Media, or perhaps could some kind of anti-virus
security program be knocking out my vids?

Also, I forgot how to get to the MS software that let's you assign suffixes
to different programs... (Like .wmv .jpg, etc....) -I'm thinking maybe I
should use something other than Win Media for .wmv files?

Thanks,
Greywoulf
