Okay. I went to the sites. I read. It was all blabber blabber walkie walkie to me. Guess I need sleep. So thanks for the references so I'll work on it when my brain thaws out -- I'm in southeast Nebraska where it's snowing heavily and the wind is winding heavily. Wonder if maybe THAT is the problem, and that it does not have anything to even DO with the program uninstall. Hmmm??? Wonder if it could be that file that's causing the troubles? It was setupx.dll which I found was located at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. I reinstalled Windows 98 without uninstalling the first. Later when I ran SFC I got the same message that setupx.dll was possibly corrupted so I figured that file did not get "fixed" by that method. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
