Trudy, Stagefright is an exploit that affects mobile phones. It can be
gotten through playing a specially crafted multimedia message that
contains the exploit. It's especially dangerous because, at least for
awhile, if u ran Hangouts, the multimedia message could be activated
automatically w/o your knowledge. Google has since remediated that,
but if u haven't updated your operating system lately, then, yes--your
device may still be vulnerable.

Having said thus, though, while Stagefright is the most highly
publicized of many vulnerabilities, it likely is not the most
prevalent of the *numerous* attack vectors against Android devices.
Apps not downloaded from the Google Play store are still the most
likely methods of attack.

Yahoo email has been notorious for the number of successful hacks
perpetrated against it, & that is 1 place where u should likely be
looking very closely.

U don't tell us what version of the Android operating system you're
using, nor do u let us know what device u have. These could all be
really helpful in providing further guidance in terms of helping to
resolve your situation.

If u do decide to do a factory reset, please understand that you'll
lose data. Also, please update your operating system immediately
following such to the latest version of Android your phone supports.

God bless u, my friend. & please let us know how we may assist further.
