Are you able to get into Windows in normal mode at all, or what?  You
say you can't, then you say that you can get into Normal mode when
restarting from safe mode.

You might try pressing F8 *BEFORE* the splash screen appears; that
will give you a menu, and you can select "Step-by-step", or "logged"
or whatever it's called.When you step through, make note of the last
item that you approve when the system locks up. The next time through,
DON'T approve that item, and see if it seems to start normally. If
you're able to isolate the problem, write back with what you find.

Also, check to see if there's a BOOTLOG.TXT in C:\; that may contain
some valuable info also.
