Thanks Scott and Bob, your comments were quite helpful.  I formatted the hard 
drive on Win 2000 in FAT32 and created a 32G partition as was suggested.  I'm 
assuming there must have been a partition there when I first bought the hard 
drive and just didn't notice it.
