Gateway has some low-profile computers with itty-bitty power supplies on which the fans are virtually guaranteed to die. I don't know if they're still selling that model, though. There *IS* such a thing as "too cheap". Semprons and Durons are like Intels' Celerons; they have less cache, so are noticeably cheaper. However, this also makes them slower. 512 MB is adequate for most purposes, unless you're doing video processing, in which case 1 GB is better. -- Scott. -- -------list-services-below----------- Regards, John Durham (list moderator) <http://modecideas.com/contact.html?sig> Freelists login at //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/lsg2.cgi List archives at //www.freelists.org/archives/pchelpers PC-HELPERS list subscribe/unsub at http://modecideas.com/discuss.htm?sig Latest news live feeds at http://modecideas.com/indexhomenews.htm?sig Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
