looking for good wholesome entertainment, last night's MTV Video Awards
were not the place to be. Beyonce' had a profane, rump-shaking
16-minute medley of her recent songs, Rihanna grabbed her crotch during
one of her four performances, Kanye West introduced a video featuring a
woman in a thong writhing on a gym floor and naked in a shower, Britney
Spears reached between G-Eazy's legs from behind and Ariana Grande
(GRAHN'-day) and Nicki Minaj ended their duet with two men on their
knees in front of the singers' crotches. There were powerful moments,
too, like when Alicia Keys sang a poem about social justice. As for the
awards, Beyonce won video of the year for "Formation" and best female
video for "Hold Up. Best male video went to Calvin Harris for "This Is
What You Came For. The new artist award went to DNCE. 193-r-16-(Alicia
