THE GAME FACES CHARGES FOR ALLEGED PUNCH DURING BASKETBALL GAME LOS
ANGELES (AP) The Game has been charged with misdemeanor assault and
battery for throwing a punch during a basketball game in Los Angeles in
March. Prosecutors say The Game had a foul called on him, then he
punched a player on the opposing team. That player happened to be an
off-duty police officer. The Game pleaded not guilty during a court
appearance yesterday. He faces up to three years in prison if
convicted. The Game is free on $50,000 bail and is due back in court
July 30. KIRK PENGILLY OF INXS REVEALS FIGHT WITH PROSTATE CANCER
SYDNEY (AP) INXS (in-ex-ES') sax player Kirk Pengilly spent his
vacation in New Zealand in February thinking every meal might be his
last. He tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph his doctor told him the day
before Pengilly left that Pengilly had an aggressive form of prostate
cancer. Pengilly says he and his wife "visited every winery from
Wellington to Auckland and had every bottle of rose'. He had a
complicated five-hour surgery in March. Follow-up tests revealed his
cancer is in remission. Pengilly says it will probably take 12 to 18
months to recover fully and he plans to celebrate his birthday next
week by buying a speedboat. JESSIE J SAYS SHE'S "NOT OK" FOLLOWING
SURGERY UNDATED (AP) Jessie J is responding to all the questions of,
"How are you today? with, "I am not OK. Jessie J posted a photo of her
arm covered in IVs and says she's in a lot of pain. She had surgery
last week for an undisclosed condition. She called off shows in Europe
over the weekend. Jessie J says she's working with doctors and
"sometimes admitting how you really feel can be the quickest road to
recovery. MUSICIANS MOURN CHRIS SQUIRE OF YES UNDATED (AP) The tributes
are pouring in for Yes bassist Chris Squire. Former Yes singer Jon
Anderson says he and Squire were "musical brothers" and in spite of
their differences, he's so glad they were able to reconnect recently.
Yes keyboardist Geoff Downes says he is "utterly devastated beyond
words. Tom Morello calls Squire "an extremely talented musician's
musician who mastered his instrument and took it to new realms. Black
Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler says he's shocked to hear the news and
calls Squire "one of the great bass players. Dave Mustaine of Megadeth
calls Squire "a tremendous talent and a terribly sad loss. Geddy Lee
says Squire was a huge inspiration to him. Squire died over the weekend
after battling a rare form of leukemia. CONFEDERATE FLAG MEANS
DIFFERENT THINGS TO DIFFERENT MUSICIANS LOS ANGELES (AP) Charlie
Daniels considers the Confederate flag a sign of defiance and pride for
the South, while urban musicians think it should go away entirely.
Daniels writes on his website he opposes slavery and has no desire to
reinstate the Confederacy, but he feels Southerners view the flag as a
symbol of pride in an area of the nation. Recently, activist Bree
Newsome climbed a pole to remove the Confederate flag from the South
Carolina statehouse, and Monica says she would have helped her climb
the pole if she had been there. Big Sean says it's time to tear down

TRESPASSER WANTS TAYLOR SWIFT TO TESTIFY FOR HIM WAKEFIELD, R.I. (AP) A
man charged with trespassing at Taylor Swift's home in Westerly, Rhode
Island, wants the court to order Swift to testify for him. The Westerly
Sun reports 24-year-old Nicholas Field says Swift is his friend and he
wants her served with a subpoena. Field was arrested April 14 after
security officers say he was "manipulating" the gate to Swift's
property. Field said in court Friday he was trying to deliver a poem
and a letter to Swift. He's due in court again July 10. KATY PERRY BEAT
OUT BY BOXERS ON FORBES CELEBRITY 100 LIST NEW YORK (AP) Katy Perry
would have been the top-earning entertainer of the past year if it
weren't for boxers being classified as entertainers. Forbes has put
Perry in third place on its Celebrity 100 list of the highest-paid
entertainers of the past 12 months. She was beat out by boxers Floyd
Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao (PAK'-ee-ow). Mayweather brought in $300
million in the past year, Pacquiao earned $160 million, and Perry
earned $135 million. One Direction is number four on the list, followed
by Howard Stern, Garth Brooks and "Alex Cross" author James Patterson.
