Hi, Vicky,

I don't blame you for not wanting to live in New York--especially after what happened on that terrible day. I never wanted to live in New York--and now I have a good reason not to live there.

I’m sure it was awful for you guys in New York, especially Manhattan. Cool that you were able to hear the chatter on the ham radio though. I remember someone told me to turn on the TV at work and I shouted to everyone that there was an attack on the Trade Center. Everyone went to the conference room where the TV was turned on. The State Governor immediately ordered all the State buildings, including ours, to be locked down. Our building housed state employees, but it wasn’t really a state owned building. We were, however, within a block of the state capitol building. There was a security guard, who usually worked in the afternoons. But from that day on, security was present at all times. It was horrifying even for us, and we weren’t close by. So I can well imagine how terrified you must have been. New York is still very vulnerable to such heinous crimes though. I’ve never considered New York a place I wanted to go visit for many reasons and that day I was glad no one in my family was there. God bless America.

Hi, Kathleen,

I remember exactly where I was when it happened 15 years ago. I was at
my parents' house. At 6 that morning, my brother called to tell Mom that
we had been attacked by terrorists. Mom woke me up to tell me the news
and I could hardly believe what I was hearing. I was in such shock and
disbelieff. I thought "how could something so terrible happen on
American soil".
