ORACLE_HOME doesn't need to be set in the environment. But if you want to connect via '/ as sysdba' you will need to run the Oracle Home Selector and open a new CMD window. The Home Selector changes the search order of the PATH variable. If you try to login as '/ as sysdba' on a 9i database while the search path is set to find 8i first, you will get an error. As long as the bin directory for the right version of Oracle is in the = path, why would it matter? And SQL*Plus would be using the DLLs in the = bin directory anyway. > -----Original Message----- > From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of > Jared.Still@xxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: jeudi, 5. f=E9vrier 2004 14:01 > To: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re: connect / as sysdba on 9i >=20 >=20 > In that case, it couns like you need to change your=20 > ORACLE_HOME via the=20 > "Home Selector", > open a new CMD window, set the ORACLE_SID, and try again. >=20 >=20 >=20 >=20 >=20 > Mohammad Rafiq <rafiq9857@xxxxxxxxx> > Sent by: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > 02/05/2004 01:07 PM > Please respond to oracle-l >=20 > =20 > To: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > cc:=20 > Subject: Re: connect / as sysdba on 9i >=20 >=20 > Does not work with 9i.
