Re: connect / as sysdba on 9i

You should check from $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib/config.s file which OS groups
are your SYSOPER and SYSDBA groups for Oracle. Search if you have there one
or two occurrences of "dba".

As Jared already asked, is your $ORACLE_SID set?
Or maybe you have $TWO_TASK set?

Try to set your sqlnet.ora's SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(BEQ) and test
connect / as sysdba then.
