Yes, us DBAs are notorious for being the messenger, and being shot for

The part I always enjoy is when I point out some schema defeciencies and
the response is "yep, we agree. However we promised the users that we
would put this project into production tomorrow, and we can't delay it."
If you raise a big stink, then everybody from senior management on down
comes away feeling "those uncooperative DBAs always cause a problem."
