Actually, VMWare does the same type of partitioning that Oracle provides, but
Oracle refuses to recognize it on VMWare which is bothersome. To me anyway.

It says that they consider VMWare to be "soft partitioning" and Oracle VM can
be either soft or hard partitioning depending on how it's configured.
