I'm assuming by "simple" you're not using Advanced Queuing to pull the
messages, like it says to in:

http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28310/monitoring001.htm#ADMIN11251

It would seem to be more difficult, but probably more timely, as it would
only trigger on a new alert rather than polling the view.
