Are you setting NB_ORA_CLIENT=<sourcehost> for the tape channel? If not, try
this:
ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch1 DEVICE TYPE SBT;
SEND 'NB_ORA_CLIENT=<your_source_host>';
RESTORE . . .
Did you double-check to make sure you don't have a "set until" clause in your
restore script that would cause it to go back to older backups?
