Agree 100% but watch out those DBA in place since 10 years or DBA
working in third parties soft company. 

They will explain you all the day long how they rejected a new layout. 

Rookies that will try the same thing will find themselves ejected with a
speed faster than Einstein equations allow.

When designing tables for use by your application, do you include
foreign keys in your design, or do you prefer to handle the logic within
the application?

 

 

 

Please, DO NOT ALLOW JAVA DEVELOPER to get even close to data modelling.
If you do then he must qualify as data modeller as such. This discipline
has nothing to do with Java.
