Going through these arguments in real-life recently, I can only refer people to this video ("http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/6995033/mongo-db-is-web-scale";).
Warning: language gets *really* raw about 90 seconds along and rapidly degenerates, so do not watch if you are easily offended and please keep the sound down anyway. But the message is right on the money...
