We've been running databases on NFS mounts on a Netapp for a number of years. Very reliable. Not the fastest, but not bad. Solaris to Netapp with the following mount options: rw,hard,intr,proto=tcp,vers=3,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,forcedirectio There is discussion if the 'forcedirectio' is needed if you set the filesystemio_options=setall.
