We've been running databases on NFS mounts on a Netapp for a number of
years. Very reliable. Not the fastest, but not bad.

Solaris to Netapp with the following mount options:

rw,hard,intr,proto=tcp,vers=3,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,forcedirectio

There is discussion if the 'forcedirectio' is needed if you set the
filesystemio_options=setall.

Old news... the world is not flat...SANs where shakey when we built them
with Fibre-SCSI bridges....and there are people who think SCSI-III Res
is Cluster fencing
