If there was one, it's gone as of at least 10g. We leave recovery on and the
physical standby in it's mounted state.

Subject: Backing up standby db: has stopping recovery prior to backup
restriction been removed?

Hi all,
When backing up physical standby database, it is my practice to stop the
recovery process prior to starting rman backups. I normally open the db
in read only mode. I have reviewed the DG UG for 10g and 11g and have
not seen this listed as a pre-requisite. Has this restriction been removed?

Thank you.
