The Motorola MCT5100 was just such a solution. John <http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=MCT5100&nodeId=01z3Tw52828766>The MCT5100 M-DTV Module is intended to provide an "add-in" DTV receptioncapability for existing analog TV set chassis designs. The module accepts an analog IF signal that contains an 8-VSB modulated ATSCtransport stream. After filtering and amplification and fast AGC, the signalis digitized in an ADC and then sent to a VSB demodulator. The demodulatedtransport stream then sent to a DTV decoder where it is first demultiplexedinto the MPEG video, audio, and other control/data streams. The MPEG video is then decoded onboard and driven to the output video tripleDAC and analog outputs. The audio stream is sent to an audio processor whereit is decoded and driven to a stereo audio DAC and analog outputs.Digital S/PDIF out is also provided for Dolby DigitalT compliance. Overallcontrol and management of the DTV module rests with an onboard systemcontroller which interfaces to the host TV via a serial port.----- Original Message -----From: "Manfredi, Albert E" <albert.e.manfredi@xxxxxxxxxx>> May years ago now, I saw estimates that a> decimating STB could be sold for "as little as"> $250, compared with the HD price of around $500.> Seems kind of funny now, though.>> Bert ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways: - Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org - By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
