Good point. However, I don't know what cost effect
the broadcast flag would have, especially on integrated
TVs.

For tuners and decoders built into the display cabinet,
in principle, the cost impact could be minimal. Encase
whatever needs to be physically protected in epoxy,
and don't provide any digital video outputs.
Integrated TVs can be supplied with digital + analog
inputs, to support external devices such as DVD
players and PVRs, but only analog video outputs, if
any video outputs at all. Cheaper TVs wouldn't need
video outputs. Cheaper TVs don't have any video outputs
today, digital or analog.

If the broadcast flag has any significant cost impact
at all, it would be the external boxes, such as PVRs
or other recording devices, that are going to be
impacted most. As of now, an easy out is to avoid
digital video outputs, if the cost difference is really
significant. (Which I doubt, but perhaps there are copy
protection royalty issues to be dealt with?)
