Why does anyone think that the IPTV systems will be open systems? The
ones I have seen are as locked down as possible, with lots of
proprietary protocols on top on IP.
It may be different in Europe, but the US systems are closed, for
business, security, and performance reasons.
The systems could be opened up to other content, but the owner of the
STB is going to want a cut.
