Subject: [ola] Invitation to test creation day - April 13th (Friday)

Hello,

Emily Mather and I will be once again working on creating a leveled test for
Spanish in mid-April. We've set Friday, April 13th as a work day. Scott Rex
should also be able to attend. Any more takers?

Purpose: To allow students of Spanish who are not interested in taking Spanish
to take an exam testing all modalities. We are focused on one novice-level test
that students would have to pass at NH to get two years of graded, FL in
Spanish; in addition, we are creating an intermediate-level test that students
would produce IL and earn 3 years of FL credit or IM to earn 4 years of FL
credit. This may change as we have more input...

Implications:
1) Tests that could be used from district to district.
2) Common goals - what students should be able to produce at these levels.
3) Common assessments - a modified form of the same assessment could be given
periodically to our students that we could use to share and compare data with.
4) ?

Let us know if you're on board - we could use your input. We'll be looking at
the pre-assessments the OLA group came up with at the beginning of the year,
along with the new material we worked on this week. You'll need to get a
Professional Development day from your district - we don't have $ to pay -
sorry!

Thanks,

Nanosh
