I appreciate the discussion of super-zoom compact cameras. I've read many
positive reviews of the Panasonic LUMIX series and it's nice to see that
confirmed by other users.
I have a DSLR setup (Canon 7D, Canon EF 300 mm lens with a 1.4x teleconverter)
and, while I can't complain about the photo quality, I don't want a howitzer
hanging around my neck every time I go birding. I've been considering one of
the super-zooms for some time now, to carry in my jacket around town, in case I
come across something interesting. I'd like use the "big gun" a little more
selectively in the future.
