And since you're presented with the completed list upon submission, omissions tend to be evident at a glance. Could this issue be browser-related, or are we talking about the BirdLog app?" As surprising as it may seem, people do make these errors all the time. And no, it's not browser-related or app-related. We were seeing exactly the same types of errors back in 1999-2000 when birdnotes.net got started. That interface also presented the completed list upon submission. Maybe there are a few perfect individuals out there who never make these mistakes, but -- after many years as a birdnotes reviewer, compiler for local field notes, CBCs, NAMC etc.-- my experience is that practically everyone does it. I'd guess there are at least 200 people on this list who, at one point or another over the past 15 years, have received a note from me asking, "Did you really intend to click on species X?" Once in a while the answer is, "Yes." But a lot of times, the answer is some variant of "Oh my gosh!" It's happened for 15 years with birdnotes, and I'm seeing it with ebird now too. It's kind of like the common cold -- there are ways to reduce your exposure, if you're incredibly fastidious, but there's no cure.
