I did some birding between Florence and Yachats today with Daniel Farrar and
Diane Pettey. No huge highlights but a nice day out.
There was a very dark imm guillemot between the jetties at Florence.
Lots of standard-model gulls at most sites. An imm. Ring-billed at the Port of
Siuslaw is not regular there this late in fall. Adult Herrings were at most
sites, with over 30 at Yachats. No Icers were seen.
Merlins were at Florence and Baker Beach Rd., the latter interacting with a
cluster of Steller’s Jays.
We could not find Harlequin or Black Scoter at Klootchman, but we were there at
high tide with a heavy surf and visibility was patchy.
Daniel and Diane can add anything I forgot.
