Too right. That's why it's good to have SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner make 
you a bootable backup on a separate drive at regular intervals. With that for 
insurance, you can just erase the drive with the troublesome system upgrade and 
overwrite it with your copy of the old one. One of these days, maybe Time 
Machine will do that too.
