we refresh the links every time we run the db because the underlying
.mde gets re-written. we've recently moved to Windows Active Directory
as well. the couple of us the work in the DB are all moved over and
Novell has been reinstalled. there has been a lot of server changes on
the IT side. also, at least once a day I get a server disconnect message
but it only seems like for an instant as I can continue working
normally. I'll look into that in more detail. thanks. /glenda

Glenda, I agree with Jim, sounds like corruption, which can happen. I
have had it happen when there was a server disconnect and the database
connection was open, though not in use. When they re-booted the server,
I could not get back into the database for anything and had to create a
new clean database and import everything.

Are any of the tables linked to other sources outside your database?
If
there are links, make sure they are refreshed. I've had situations
where
things were running like clockwork for months, years, then when they
made a change to the linked tables and their relationships - ouch!

Have there been any server changes in your server or operating system?
I have also had situations where Novell Client was part of our old
server structure, then they moved to Windows Active Directory, and when
I shared a database with other users who had not been moved to active
directory yet, they were on Novell and I was not, there was database
corruption everytime we both opened the same database. I had Novell
re-installed, and it was ok. Once Novell was taken off all our servers
completely, we un-installed it from our machines and no more problems.
Things happen at the worst times and there can be numerous causes.

In addition to the JetComp utility Jim recommends, there are 2 other
things you can try. (Make a backup 1st!) 1. Go into the relationship
window, delete the current relationships, save, close, then re-open it,
re-set the relationships.
2. Create a blank new database and import all the forms, reports,
queries, etc., from the original database.

Hope this helps, Cathy

I have a database macro in access 2003 that I run every day to delete
tables, create tables and append data in tables. For months, no problem.
All of a sudden, a make table query comes up with the error, cannot
delete table XXX because it is involved in one or more relationships.
Since I've not done anything to the db in months, I have no idea why
this is suddenly popping up. In the relationships window, the table in
question is in relationships but it's never been a problem before.

If anyone can suggest what might have happened here, I'd appreciate it.

/glenda
