I've sent your and Cathy's responses to my IT contact. So far, he's
trying to set up additional monitoring in my department to try and
pinpoint what's going on. I appreciate y'all helping.

Glenda--

You stated something *very* telling in your response: "at least once a
day I get a server disconnect message but it only seems like for an
instant as I can continue working normally"
Danger! Access is *very* sensitive to such things. If you're seeing a
quick server disconnect message around once a day, the disconnecting is
probably happening a lot more often than that. And if Access is in the
middle of a write operation when one of those nanosecond hiccups takes
place, your DB can be hosed. I'd definitely have IT look into that and
fix the problem ASAP. Also, if you're enterprise is growing so, perhaps
your company might want to look into a true back-end database engine,
such as SQL Server, which uses transaction rollbacks and other
corruption-defying tricks to keep things happy and healthy.

FYI: refreshing the links is a good idea, especially with the back end
server changes, and the move to AD. I usually suggest that.

we refresh the links every time we run the db because the underlying mde
gets re-written. we've recently moved to Windows Active Directory as
well. the couple of us the work in the DB are all moved over and Novell
has been reinstalled. there has been a lot of server changes on the IT
side. also, at least once a day I get a server disconnect message but it
only seems like for an instant as I can continue working normally. I'll
look into that in more detail. thanks. /glenda
