Have you inserted Merge Fields into the master envelope? If you haven't
inserted the fields you want, in the locations you want in the master
envelope, you can't merge it yet. Do that and your button will become
active.

See the bottom of this article. There you'll see how the merge fields are
inserted. This is for labels, you'll only need to insert them into the one,
master envelope.

I wish to use and existing envelope design and merge with an excel file of
names and addresses.  My merge box shows each file correctly, but the merge
