Or, cut it and paste it into notepad...then it will DEFINITELY be plain
text...then paste it from notepad back into Word.
But, it's possible there's something going on here other than the text...if
none of this fixes it, can you send me the document Paul? and I'll take a
look at it and see what's going on in it.

Paul,
What do you get when you select that paragraph, cut it, and paste special it
as text into a new document? Does it get rid of the weirdness? If it does,
then you should be able to take that chunk and paste it back into the
original document.
