You brought in the formatting, either by pasting in without selecting
unformatted text...hence it was formatted as was. Or, you are using the
InsertText field and have /MERGEFORMAT added to the field.
If you are using styles...just apply the proper style over the text to
reformat it.
Or paste it again...this time as unformatted text.
Or bookmark the text in another document and pull it in with INSERTTEXT
field and don't merge formats (or is it YES to merge??? Rats...I ALWAYS
forget which is which...which taketh and which giveth away?????

Please can someone suggest a fix for my paragraphs problem. I have a word
document of about 40 pages. I have brought in some quotes from external
sources to enhance it for a project I am doing. Since having brought in the
outside text, down through parts of the document some paragraphs have both
black text on a black background and the fonts are different than what I am
using in the main document which is times new roman size 12.
I think it was the introduction of outside text pieces that seems to have
altered the document but can anyone suggest what I can do to fix this and
perhaps avoid it in the future.

To fix, try this: click on the paragraph. Then, in the Word Styles, choose
"remove formatting" or "clear formatting".
To avoid, try this:
When copying from Word, Word, don't just paste, but instead, paste special,
unformatted. Or, if it is easier, paste the entire document you are copying
FROM into a Notepad document, then copy and paste from there into your Word
document.
