Hi Jan and Kathy,

Outlook Express uses the same dictionary that Word uses. Can your friend do
normal spell checks (in English) from within Word? If not, within Word, try
clicking Tools > Language > Set language... "English" should be an option. If
it is not an available choice, maybe she clicked the wrong language when she
loaded Office, although I would expect all her menus and Help info to be in
French if she did.

If English is not available and it can't be installed from her Office CD, she
can purchase Microsoft Office XP Proofing Tools. Proofing Tools is an add-in
package that contains the proofing tools that Microsoft makes for over 30
languages - for example fonts, spelling and grammar checkers, AutoCorrect
lists, AutoSummarize rules (Microsoft Word only), translation dictionaries,
and, for Asian languages, Input Method Editors (IMEs).

Kathy, the link you provided advises the user to visit
http://www.poremsky.com/p/index2.htm I did a search for "spell" on the
alternate site, but I got no hits.

HTH
