Hi Gene.  That's one I've never seen before.  The only thing I can think
of
is this.  Are you using the Preview Pane?  If so, go to Tools>Options
(in
your inbox...not inside a mail) and click on Other tab, then click on
the
Preview Pane button and UNCHECK where it says to "mark messages as read
in
preview window"

However, if that doesn't do it, try running Detect and Repair from
Outlook's
Help menu
