Repair tool runs outside of outlook2000. From the recommendation of former posts, I ran the tool. My outlook2000 - Outlook.pst = 267MB Scanpst.exe You still did not post the size of outlook.pst -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Robert Carneal Sent: Thursday, April 26, 2007 11:40 AM To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] Re: Outlook 2000 not opening Sizes of my PST files: Archive.pst 45,488KB Mailbox.pst 2,060,592KB Personal folders 179,425KB I have _*not *_been able to use the Inbox Repair Tool. Reason: Outlook 2000 will not run at all. It only opens to the splash screen and stops there. I left it there for an hour, hoping against hope it was just being slow, but to no avail. Windows Task Manager says it is "Not Responding." Yes, I am wondering if a new version of Outlook will allow me access to 2000 pst email. Here is what I have been told so far. 1. No, because your Outlook is part of Office 2000. You need to buy a complete Office 2007 to do this without losing anything. 2. No, because Microsoft changes the format in each new office version. Outlook 2002 couldn't read Outlook 2000. (That sounds counterproductive, why would MS do that? That would just make people go, "no, I want to keep what I have done," and not buy a newer version.) 3. No, because you did not buy the new Office version _/fast/_ enough for Microsoft. So they don't want you being able to read old email on a new version. It is their way of encouraging people to stay up to date. You should have been buying the updates and new versions as soon as they came out. 4. Yes, because the capacity of the PST file is larger in a newer version. 5. Yes, because the new version will correct whatever error you have in your current version, if you have an error. 6. No, because the new version will not correct the error you have. It will prevent the new Microsoft Outlook from even installing. Well, obviously not all can be correct. They were all salesmen for what that is worth. Hmm, thinking, will Microsoft themselves answer that question? Thank you. Robert Linda F.
