Yes, you CAN transfer the whole Normal.dot...but realize it will overwrite any customization in the current normal.dot. So it depends what you're doing. If you're attempting to pass say, your current/old normal.dot to a new system of your own...then it's cool. But I wouldn't suggest you doing this to someone else's system, since you could overwrite their stuff and that could be a big problem. Yes, it can be a pain now that WinXP buries all the user settings under Documents and Settings for each user. The best way to figure out where your normal.dot is located in ANY version of Word is to click Tools/Options/File Locations. Click on the Template listing and click Modify to view the full path...since it's usually long and shows up truncated in the standard path window. But hitting Modify passes you to another dialog that allows you to see the full path. That will be the path where your current Normal.dot is found and where you should pass the new one. And yes, you can pass it via email or a network...but I'd suggest you zip it to protect it from corruption when sending. As for the MSO jpg link...cool that you've added it for Linda. If so where does it go in this 2002. This new XP OS is about to run me up a wall I get lost easy in it! Also I put the little MSO Jpg and ? on one of my pages I got three question first day I hope you did also? Gene Re: Macros Transfer? You can easily use the Tools/Macro/Macro/Organizer to pass them to a new dot file...then take the dot file via a network or floppy to the new system and copy them back, using the same method, to the other Normal.dot file. OR...you can pass them to a master dot (template) file and then put that in the ../word/startup dir to make them accessible to Word in normal use. OR...you can export out the code module and then import it back into the new version. NO...you do NOT have to rewrite them...you have lots of choices. Just depends what's best/easiest for your purposes. Yell if you need further details about how to do any of this in detail.
