There is a fellow here in Australia by the name of Ted Pritchard who developed practical steam powered vehicles back in the 1960s . The engines were I think unaflow type but the secret was the boiler or furnace it could burn almost any waste fuel. After years of trying to get interest in the engine it sent him to the verge of bankruptcy. He had re powered a 1948 Chev truck and a 1962 Ford Falcon sedan. The Chev truck is now in storage in a museum not far from were I live. Its reported that it could out accelerate a Porsche http://www.abc.net.au/canberra/stories/s1142168.htm The Falcon was flown to the U.S.in 1970 but failed to attract investor's ( I suspect oil was cheap and steam to old fashion) I believe he has received some finance to develop a steam generator for third world countries that can burn peanut shells and straw as fuel. Information on this bloke is hard to find his web site is no longer responding http://prsteam.inventdata.com.au/ Lee -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
