HI Jesse, Welcome to the List and Gang of Steam Addicts & Fine Mechanics. I've hd the chance to get sept/oct-nov/dec issues of Live Steam ( difficult to get this mag in France), so are you the one riding the 'beast' on sept/oct issue ? Yep. Another question. Why do you use a so thick (1") plate for the main frame ? Is it to increase the adhesion to the track? I think this is a nice project for a beginner ( I'm one of this kind ...) . Few months ago I sollicitated the guidance of our Seniors Fellows for my first loco and received very nice and wise advices but I think Newbie is fairly good in terms of skill needed and money spent (my income dramatically changed since last june, no job !)
