The normal calculator with Windows is basic and not particulalry user
friendly.

I now use Calc98, which can be downloaded FREE from
http://www.calculator.org/

It has a vast number of facilities, including the usual calculation,
statistics, engineering, scientific, financial and geometric functions.
It will work in binary, octal, base 10, or any base up to 36, plus base 60
(for time etc).
It even has Roman numerals just in case you want to multiply XXVI by MCLVX.

A whole range of conversions is included, making change from, for example,
metric to imperial easy.
It also has loads of Constants, in case you happen to forget Avogrado's
Constant, for example.
It has the Table of Elements with properties of each.

Nice and easy to use too.
Oh, and did I mention "FREE". !
