Dave, I have always fastened my rods to the mill table and used the dials to set the exact centre to centre distances. I then drill and ream the holes. On locomotives, I have been known to cheat a bit on side rod bushing spacing by measuring the axle centres and making the rods to fit. Works fine, but don't tell your friends what you did unless you have some heart medicine handy or the phone number of the local hospital. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Everett" <deverett2003@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <modeleng@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, December 16, 2008 12:14 PM Subject: [modeleng] Conrod boring > What is the concensus about making holes in conrods?Does the team still > mount them on the lathe faceplate to drill/bore/ream the big end and > little end holes, or do folks use the milling machine to perform the same > job?DaveSaudi-Arabia-On-Sea > > > MODEL ENGINEERING DISCUSSION LIST. > > To UNSUBSCRIBE from this list, send a blank email to, > modeleng-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject > line. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message.
