Gentlemen: I need your advice in re-building a miniature W/T Marine boiler I originally built about 20 years ago. I used it for awhile to run a Stuart V-10 that I had built 30 years ago, so as you can see, I was out of the hobby for a good number of years. The 1950's article from which I built it advised using Asbestos Mill board for insulation. I could not find any, so the first time I tried insulating the casing, I used some pieces of old Asbestos shingles. Oh boy, you should of heard the Snap! Crackle! Pop! when they got hot! I canned that idea in a hurry---don't like flying shrapnel! Several months ago, I was prowling in a hardware store that was going out of business and found a roll of "Fire Proof, Acid Proof, Vermin Proof Fyrex Paper". I am thinking of making a "sandwich" of this paper and some thin Stainless Steel sheet, pop-riveted to the inside of the casing for insulation. In your opinions, will this work satisfactorily? If not, what should I use? Al Messer __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? All your favorites on one personal page ? Try My Yahoo! http://my.yahoo.com MODEL ENGINEERING DISCUSSION LIST.
