Hey Benjamin, the motif voices are all accessible through midi, you just
need to wait till that ins file is released, then you'll be able to access
all the sounds in the motif through sonar. The ins basically sends the
motif the same commands that the panel buttons would when selecting voices, you don't miss out on anything. You would generally want to record in midi first, then play those tracks back and send them to the daw as audio. This
allows you to quantize, copy and paste parts, edit notes and stuff, etc
etc... With audio once recorded, that's it! You can use the arps in sonar,
look up on motifator, the motif arps and how to use them, at least for the
es are explain in the behind the manual section; I imagine for the sx it
should be easier...but yes, you usually want to start out with midi and then turn to audio, unless you are using loops from the beginning of the project,
which would already be audio files...

Really? Let me explain what I'm thinking:
MIDI has only 128 sounds. But when you record Audio sounds, par example
through the MLan connection, you can use every voice of the whole motif, I
guess about 1000? And also the arpeggiator and of course the effects which
makes the sounds of the XS so real.

Hi,
If i understand you correctly, I think you're under the impression that
you don't have the ability to play all the patches in the motif when using

QWS. This is only because you can't easily access them without the
instrument definition or actually knowing the bank/patch numbers. Using
sonar is not going to give you access to more sounds on the motif.

Never mind, in this case I should concentrate more on sonar and audio
connection. I realised that you can't play the greath waveforms of the
motif XS, when using the MIDI sounds.

How do you move in Sonar through your recorded sounds? Is it simple to
delete mistakes?

Ooops. I didn't catch that you wanted to use the Motif with QWS. This
version only works with Sonar.

There isn't an instrument definition list for QWS. If one is made, you
might have to be the one to make it. There aren't many QWS users when
compared to something like Sonar, and there are a smaller number of
those QWS users that have a Motif XS. If you make instrument
definitions, though, I'll be glad to post them.

Ow, I'm so stupid. I'm a little bit more then blind ;-) Thank you.

I'm a beginner in this stuff and maybewrong. But I think, this list
isn't usable yet. I can't import it in QWS. I opened it and saw that a
few things are missing, like bank numbers.

Does this list work in sonar?

Hey, come on. How can you not know where the instrument definitions are
located? They're in the Resources section on MoAccess.info, and I only
talk about them two or three times a week <smile>.

Unfortunately jaws and cubase don't work too good, sonar is the only
most accessible package you'll find... I did try googling the sx ins
file and couldn't find anything, so the other alternative is to use the
data list for the sx and look at bank numbers and voice numbers and
stuff and send them to sonar that way, by inserting a patch change even
or something...I'm surprised, I'd imagine someone would have made one by
now...

Hi!
No, I don't have the instrument definitions for the XS. I think, it
isn't available yet. Par example on motifator.com you can find these
lists for any Motifs, but not for the XS.

I guess, I have to wait. Anyway, I also want to record audio tracks. I
haven't sonar. But with my motif XS I got Cubase AI. Is this program
also good for Jaws?

Hello, do you have the sx's instrument definitions for sonar? If so,
import
it using the options>instruments>port number/channel>define>import.
Then
you can use the track properties to navigate to the specific bank,
and select the specific instrument. They should be labeled; at least
on the es file they are labeled, as pre1-6, user1-3, plg1-3, pre
drums, user drums, etc etc. If you haven't gotten the sx ins file,
search for it on google (I'm not sure if it's even available yet; I
would imagine so) or if you have it and haven't imported, let me know
if you need help with it.

Hi!
You're so greath! That was the problem! Thank you very much!

Do you know, which Program or bank Number are in MIDI used to create
Drums?
Par example, I want to add Drums to a song.
I know that mostly Drums are on kanal 10. But which program?

Are you in song or pattern mode in the motif sx? You have to be in
multitimberal mode, which are song or pattern, in order to hear more

than

1
instrument/voice out of the motif...

Hi Everyone!

Finally I got my Motif XS 8! I waited since July ...

My Problem: I installed the USB Driver for MIDI Connection. But the
MIDI-In doesn't work probperly. I can always only hear one
instrument.
My biggest wish: I would like to open MIDI-Files with the Quick
Windows Sequencer QWS, modify them and create own songs.

I already activated the USB to Host in the Motif XS. Is there
something else I should do?

Kind regards
Benjamin
