Thanks a lot for the key strokes for activating voice over. Probably my
next thing is to read up on some of the common key strokes so that I get the
most out of my first exposure to a mac.

Hello,
If you are going to try a notebook computer, use command + f5 + the fn
key, which is located on the bottom left corner of the keyboard. To
turn voiceover off, you can use command f5 without the fn key.
